Default Has anyone used a Wacker?

I managed to do a trade last night with a gent off SRP forum and I'm going to be getting a Wacker. I've read very good things about them but I'd be interested to hear anyones first hand experience of them.

    This is what I got.

I don't know how well it shaves but it certainly looks the part of a great shaver. Congrats!

I was offered a 7/8 Boker Celebrated for my Wacker but I couldn't do it (I actually had to get a second opinion from one of our razor collectors on B&B). I rarely use the blade because of the gold wash but it is a fantastic shaver. Now that being said I had a Red Head Wacker and it looked nice but it had major grind issues that was noticeable to me and ended up trading it for one of my EPBD's.

I'm curious to know what you offered in the trade?

I have that exact razor only in the white buffalo horn scales, actually I have that one and also the same from 2008, haven't seen a 2010 of it yet or I would buy that. Which should answer what I think of that specific Wacker razor

I have a couple other Wackers as well which are ok but the 2 I have of that model seem to shave and handle better.

    Enjoy

I have a 8/8 (more like 15/16, I think) Wacker in horn. Great shaver. Took me a little while to dial in the edge on it, but once there, it was very smooth, and lasted longer than most of my razors before needing a touch up.

Mine's a great shaver. Like Mark, I don't use it too often because of the gold wash. It is a piece I am proud to own.

Very nice looking razor...I suspect you will be quite pleased. I just recently sold one, an Antik Spanish point purchased from John Crowley at ShavingShop.com Mine was a fantastic shaver and very beautiful piece as well. I only parted with mine as my rotation had grown to over 15 blades

    John,
You will be very happy with this one ...I have 3 and they are amazing shavers.

Does yours come shave-ready? If not, careful time on the hones will reveal the true edge that these beauties have.

    Enjoy it.

Just curious: what did you end up trading for it?
    Cheers,
    Robert

Two straights, a Le Jaguar and a Le Grelot.

I have been very happy with mine for over a year now. It shaves beautifully and is easy to maintain (even with the gold wash). Then there is the added bonus of the service John Crowley provides: top notch.
