Default Gillette 7 O'clock Sharp Edge

Gillette 7 O'clock Sharp Edge (Russian made) in a head to head with the infamous Gillette Super Stainless "Spoiler" of circa 1978.

Loaded in two identical razors (1959 Gillette Tech) for a side by side trial run.........and the verdict is: I couldn't tell the difference between them in day 1 using Aqua di Parma shave cream.

Spoilers usually last between 5-6 shaves for me, I think this is where they'll win in the long run. I seriously doubt the Gillette Sharp Edge can get me there with comfort and safety.

I will post my final verdict in a few days.

I really like the Gillette Yellows ... but I'm really pushing them if I try to go more than three days. For those three days, though, they're very, very good.

Well they come damn close to the famous Spoilers! So any poor soul who has not had the opportunity to try them, these Gillette Sharp Edge are a good substitute. I have a nice stash of Spoiler which I will stop using if these do the trick. I'll let the vintage age gracefully, and use them at some other point in time.

So I did finally get 5 full 3 pass shaves with this blade.

Next day, I went back to a Spoiler while it was still fresh in mind. So what can I conclude? A few things....

    1. The Gillette Sharp Edge is a tad sharper than Spoilers.
    2. The Spoiler is a tad or two smoother than the Sharp Edge.
    3. I can likely push the Spoiler past 5 shaves if I wanted to.

Given their history, there is more nostalgia associated with the
Gillette Spoiler, however their availability is rather limited! The Sharp Edge is a great alternative.

Never tried the spoilers, but I can get 4 or more good shaves from a Sharpedge. Good price too.
