Default Santa Maria Novella in a can!

    Gentlemen,

My local SMN stockist has SMN shaving foam in a can. My instinctive response is to avoid any canned goop but this is SMN so perhaps it might be a decent choice. I wonder if anyone has any experience of this product?

    Thanks

Roy, that is not a new product, but something already on the market and sold exclusively at the SMN authorized shops, as their entire line. I have personally never used it, but my father has. He said that it is a very good canned foam, very similar to Proraso Green in a can. Something, I think, worth trying if you use canned foams.

    Thanks Marco,

I'm not a fan of canned foams but I'm likely to have back surgery, again, next year. Previous experience suggests I won't be able to stand for long periods so stropping a straight and making up a bowl of lather won't be an option. However DE and SMN Foam will be the way to go, especially if SMN Foam is as good as the rest of the range.

I didn't try any Santa Maria Novella product but I was curious and I read the reviews and other comments in this forum and they aren't any good. Santa Maria Novella seems a very expensive product for a quality that isn't much better than Proraso. If you have already tried Santa Maria Novella then you know better than me its quality but if you didn't, search and read the comments.

Said that, curiosity is a enough motivation to try it.

I respect your opinion but disagree with you. I have both SMN and Proraso and they both give excellent results - at the end of the day both products contribute to a good shave. However I do find SMN has a further depth to it, hard to explain, but I think that it is the quality of the product and that's where the difference in price shows.

SMN is the best shaving foam in a can that you can buy. It is the super premium Hagen Daz of canned foams: rich, creamy and with a very nice light SMN fragrance. Nothing in a can is this good.

Mine was a suggestion to read the comments and reviews about Santa Maria Novella if you didn't it already, not a suggestion to don't buy it. I'm glad you like it, it is still an expensive product for me but Florence is not far from here and maybe one day I'll test it.

That's very helpful, pretty much what I suspected, thanks!
