After getting some good advice (getting away from electric razors and Mach 3) from a a co-worker I decided that I would plunge into the world of DE. I ordered a Merkur 33c, a pack of Derby's and one of Astras. I also picked up some other shaving necessities (some Kiss My Face shave Cream, a brush, and a syptic pencil). My friend even gave me a couple tucks of Sharks and Bluebirds. I WAS READY AND EXCITED.
After reading the instructions and looking at different forums I knew the basics or no added pressure and basically how to find the correct angle. I was off! I was surprised how little effort was required and how good it felt with a sharp blade. After one WTG pass on my face it was nearly BBS. I don't have a heavy beard at all so I didn't need much more, but I did another WTG and it was BBS my first go. I had one small weeper, but I think that was due to a small zit.
My neck on the other hand was a different story. This is where I need some advice. My neck hair grows from left to right, so shaving up and down is XTG. I did one pass like that and probably used too much pressure and it did not go so well. It was smooth enough, but I had a large amount of irritation and a few nicks. I don't have any issues with the jawline since you just have to open your mouth to help, just the neck so far. So what is the easiest was to shave your neck? Does anyone else have hair that grows from left to right?
