Default New DeLuxe lady Gillette Jade

I ran into a New DeLuxe lady Gillette Jade http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/The...lette Jade.JPG today for the first time. Until I looked it up, I thought wasn't even a correct set since I have not, or anything similar before. I was just curious how rare/desirable/collectible the set was. Does anyone out there know what a decent razor set with a pristine case would be worth?

The best way to get an idea of value is looking at finished Ebay listings, although the final price can vary by a fair margin from auction to auction.

I got one of the boxed New sets that doesn't come with a blade holder for around £20 that was in nearly mint condition. I also have an Old Debutante set that I got for £11. I had to scrub the corrosion off the razor but apart from the plate loss it is in excellent condition without the crack in the handle that is so common on early Gillettes.

    wulfgar1976,

Thanks for the input. Did you purchase a lady Gillette Jade set? My question should have been more clear and was really more focused on that specific NEW set. I was curious because after looking at thousands of auctions and razors a dealer offered me a set from an estate sale and I had never seen one before.

I don't have the Jade set. I think I bought one of the Empire sets.

these are wonderful razors - great shavers.

I'd jump for it (I'd even skip a dinner or two to manage the buy, if I had to).

    Mr. Razor,

Thanks for the info. That must mean it is as relatively rare as I suspected. You may have talked me into purchasing it even though I definitely do no need another razor.

Its only worth what someone is willing to pay...ebay is always a good example, one day could go for a lot next day a guy can sneak one in "cheap". Interesting set, pretty.

I bought the exact Jade set for my wife earlier this year. I've seen them sell for up to $200 in great condition! Although, as Mr-Razor pointed out, they're not easy to come by.

It sounds like you have stumbled on something very special. These pearlized cases are so beautiful. As you've noticed on Mr. Razor's site they come in coral and ivory as well. I have bid on these in the past and have always been left in the dust. (I do have the razor by itself, and the New Deluxe head is wonderful, but I do think the New Improved gives it a run for its money!!) If the asking price is not forbidding, you should grab it. Its a gorgeous set.

These are classy sets, hard to come by and excellent shaving razors. If you can purchase it, photograph it, use it -- you can always sell it here if you decide you don't want it. And you are bound to get what you paid for it.

I love these sets and think they are well worth owning.

I would think that it would be highly collectible as is it's silver counter-part the Tuck-A-Way with it's much more modest case. The Tuck-A-Way has the bullet points under the head, I wonder if that makes a big difference in value.
