I really like the chrome razor/brush holder anyway to maybe buy that separate? Also is there anyway I could buy some samples of the shaving cream?

Wow, I didn't realize the shaving sets started at $788 and went up to $1,588. Since I'm new to the double-edge community, is that a reasonable price for what's being offered?

Well, I wasn't sure if there's something 'out-of-this-world' amazing about the TwinLuxe products. So far, I'm fairly content with my Merkur HD and Gillette '61. I'm itching to try others, as well, but those are a bit rich for my blood.

I haven't looked yet but you certainly don't need to spend that sort of money

and after visiting I'm inclined to agree with the other poster who replied

    Ummm...... No

I certainly wouldn't spend that money for a fusion

In response to the questions posted above:

    1) We at this time do not have any sample packets of our TwinLuxe Shaving Skincare line. However, TwinLuxe went through an extensive development phase with our skincare lab to make sure the products do not overdry skin, are not oily feeling, and keep the skin nourished. I am the CEO and co-founder of TwinLuxe and I use the products on a daily basis and love them!

    2) Why are our shaving sets priced so high?
Our shave sets are designed by Marek Djordjevic, world renowned designer whose works include the exterior designs of the Rolls Royce Phantom family of cars. The set itself is top-notch quality and works of art. And are packaging compliments the set. Our shave sets are meant to be luxury items such as a fine $10,000+ wristwatch.

You will be suprised by the weight of the shaving sets (around the weight of a filled wine bottle) when you compare them to others that are compatible with either Gillette Mach3 or Fusion blades. Pictures do not do the sets justice and can only be fully understood when seen and touched in person. When we ship out a shave set, the box weighs around 9 lbs!

If you are looking to buy a shave set just for the sole purpose of shaving, then our shave sets are probably not meant for you. Why do people buy a $10 plastic quartz watch when this plastic watch keeps better time than a $10,000 swiss automatic movement watch? Why drive a Ferrari when you can drive a Chevy when both can get you from A to B?

The amount of attention we devoted to our Fine Shaving Instruments is also reflected in our Shaving Skincare line. Try our products, you will not be disappointed.

The sets your are selling really are beautiful, no argument there. They just happen to take luxury and price to a level that I am very uncomfortable with I suppose. Realizing this, I added our favorite saying to the bottom of my post - YMMV (your mileage may vary) as I realized that there probably are some gentlemen on this board who wouldn't flinch at spending this much on a brush, stand and razor. No direct offense was intented, my post was just a knee jerk reaction to a new guy asking if he should expect to have to spend this much for a kit.

Since I began wet shaving a year or so ago I went from scoffing at the thought of spending $9.00 for a VDH boar brush to rationalizing the fact that I need to have a $200.00 Simpson's 2 band chubby brush I used to complain about $4.00 for a can of Aveeno shaving cream and now I don't even flinch when buying a $30.00 puck of shave soap.

Gorgeous products! But your shaving advice needs some work (use water sparingly? shave only WTG? Bah!) Check out the stickies here for some really great tips that you could maybe crib from

Also, all that beautiful design..... wasted on a Fusion cartridge? A really high-end shaving set should always include a DE option.

Thank you all for the comments stating the design of the sets are beautiful/gorgeous.

Please understand that this is a shave cream and not a general shaving soap bar. Each shave cream requires a different amount of water for maximum froth, and the TwinLuxe Smooth Shave Cream works best w/ a brush when your brush is not dripping excessively with water. For soaps, you can use as much water as you like to get the soap to froth up. However, if you use too much water on a shave cream, it just drips off and that is why 'use water 'sparingly' is on there. If you use our products, you will see why our directions are such. These steps are specifically tailored to use with TwinLuxe products, and not with other brands' products.

For the shaving purists, TwinLuxe will come out in the future with some tools that will be to your liking :)

they're nice looking but I don't get the engineering analogy. without even specs for the brushes and with a regular Gillette Fusion razor I'm not convinced. I'd like to see under the hood of these Ferrari shaving products. Not even an ingredient list? Also, the review said the cream is brushless. Is that true?

Thumbs down I must be missing something. . . .

IMHO Product materials should first provide a performance enhancement and second eye appeal. I may be missing something but how does "This high-tech material is typically used in demanding industrial and structural applications such as engine parts and ballistic armor." improve the performance of the brush, razor or stand?
From an aesthetic perspective the design is simple and again IMHO appears more of a minimalistic design than a luxury design.

I wish you a lot of luck. Marketing is not my area of expertise and I expect you have done research to determine there is a desire for these type of products. I hope they sell well for you.

    Sincerely
    Steve

    engdom,

Thank you for your suggestions. We have now updated our website to reflect the key ingredients used in each TwinLuxe skin care product. Our products incorporate a 'TwinLuxe Blend' of asian botanicals as well as other scientifically-proven ingredients, which all help to nourish and keep the skin healthy.

And yes, our shave cream can be used with or without a brush.

The ingredients listed for the shave cream are less than forthcoming, its more of a sales pitch than an ingredients list.

    From the Vendors guidelines-
Vendors should expect in-depth, specific questions about their products and be prepared to discuss manufacturing process and ingredients.

I hope you can see that posting anything less than the whole story will damage your reputation and credibility here at the B&B.

Here is the full ingredient list for the TwinLuxe Smooth Shave Cream. Bashing a product when one hasn't even tried it out yet is questionable. Give it a try and I am sure you will not be disappointed but pleasantly surprised. TwinLuxe has received nothing but praise from customers who have purchased the shave cream, along with media and press.

    Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Palmitic Acid, Myristic Acid, Myristyl Myristate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Pentylene Glycol, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Seed Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Duboisia Leichardtii Leaf Extract, Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Extract, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract, Cocamide DEA, Butylene Carbonate, Hydoxyphenyl Propamideobenzoic Acid, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Isopentyldiol, Fragrance, Benzyl Salicylate, Hydroxycitronellal, Lilial, Lyral.
