    Default The most handsome soap....EVER!

My attention was recently directed to Czech & Speake shave products by a very generous member of B&B (petr). I have to say they have the best looking shave soap and dish I have ever seen. I have no earthly idea how they can ask $140 for it, but here it is in all of its extravagance and earthly glory.

    Just look at that thing!

It's a knockout. That's for sure. Trumper's Eucris soap kinda has a similar vibe, but it's not near as classy.

    Thumbs up

Very nice indeed. What about performance, scent, etc? Does it compare?

I got the soap and bowl, did not care for the scent and sold the soap. The bowl still sits in my den looking pretty waiting for me to put something new in it. I am thinking I will mill some MWF into it mixed with some Mama Bear Masculine Musk or GFT Coconut as I like their scents.

Little-known fact: the SW1 on the lid is required by law. If you don't live in that post-code, you can't afford it.

petrs review claimed it to be exactly similar to AOS but with much heavier scent. It sounds like great stuff, but I have never actually used it.

Their web page described it this way "No.88 has a fresh, woody top note of reviving and uplifting bergamot, the richness and warmth of geranium, rose otto, cassie and exotic frangipani. Combined with dry base notes of vetiver and sandalwood".

Sorry, but if you dont want to find stuff to try B&B might not be a safe place to spend time Sometimes it can be a scary place when you dont want to spend money.

As much as I like the bowl, I'm lucky in that none of their scents sound appealing to me in the least It makes it much easier to pass on.

It smells like plasticine to me. Exactly like plasticine. The soap is A+++ and one of only a couple of really high end tallow soaps left; I have no problem with the price of a refill puck.

The old bowl for the Oxford and Cambridge soap was nice as well.

I have both the O&C and No.88 soaps and can say that they're some of the best I've used. They're made by Valobra, who make the Art of Shaving soaps as well. The scent of the O&C is wonderful! I passed on the bowls however and just opted for the refill pucks. They can be bought here.

It's a Valobra puck with a different scent.

Spend the $140 on 10 sticks of Valobra instead.

    THAT'S worth every penny.
