Discussion Thread for Talisker 18 Review

Perfect review Tim. My first encounter with Talisker was the 10yo, which is outstanding in it's on right. Then went to the 18yo. IMO the 18 is more refined and mellow then the 10yo. More smoke and more peat, but well balanced. If you enjoy the 18yo Talisker, I recommend another 18yo expression by Caol Ila. More peat and smoke, but sophisticated. Good cigar dram.

Haven't tried Talisker 18y/o
but the Talisker 10 y/o was one of my favorites, nice and smoky,
a Scotch with a soul. Now I want to try the 18...

The 18 is very similar to the 10, but it lacks the raw power of the 10, but is much more complex and subtle.

Yes.
The 10 has a finish you'll only like if you really, truly like whisky, but the 18 has a much more subdued hint of that and it's really nice. Good stuff. Maybe Santa will bring some; I've been good!
