Alternatives to witch hazel?

Alternatives to witch hazel? Listerine mouth wash or similar aftermarket mouthwash. I still use it on occassion whenever I use to much pressure with my 1912 GEM. It stings a bit but takes most of the soreness out of the very close shave.

Someone on a different thread--I can't remember who or where--posted the following witch hazel aftershave recipe: 2 parts high alcohol aftershave, 1 part witch hazel, 1 part water. I have not tried it--yet. I was thinking of mixing up a batch but without the 1 part water and see how it is.

I will always use Thayers. I use it even when using other after shaves. The scent is mild, and just a little hint of woodsy. You could also try a natural tea tree oil as an astringent. It has a defined scent, but maybe you'll like it. You can definitely find it for your purposes. I know trader joe's sells it in this manner.
