Lapping a Lansky stone for knifes

If I lap a medium stone with a fine diamond will the medium become finer/ I am clueless about this stuff and have been lurking in the straight forum, but I have a stone in my Lansky set up for my knifes and my medium is to course and creates to much work on the finer stones. I want to change it if I can with a fine diamond and not have to buy another stone just to set bevel.

I wish I could get the straight razor stuff figured as well. Every impatient man needs to get into straights.

Wait. OK - I just re-read that.
Nevermind....

Meaning he would learn to be patient. That is if he wanted an edge to shave with. No I do not plan on using a knife but I have better abilities sharpening a knife than stropping a straight which is all ready sharp supposedly.

Still wondering how to lighten up the medium stone. Maybe sand paper?

A stone has certain characteristics and honing it will not change those. If you lap it with a very fine stone you will have a very fine surface and can actually mirror polish the hone if it's fine enough.
