This is one of Jose's new leathers. It's made out of hard compressed horsehide and has what he described as a buttery draw. I've dealt with this type of leather before and I'm really impressed at how supple it is after Jose's break in process. As you can see in one of my pictures, it's very flexible and not just a stiff strip of hide.
It's about 2.5 inches wide by 24 inches long. That's the size of my Kanoyama 50,000, but since this doesn't have too many stamps, it's got more stropping surface. There's only one stamp at the bottom end of the strop and it's faint on this particular strop. You can ask Jose (Ambrose) if you don't believe me that it's one of his strops.
I got this strop in a trade, but I'm pretty sure Jose's asking 68 USD for these. I'd like 65 USD for this strop. The only thing I'm actually interested in trading for is an Ambrose strop of this size but in his Spanish Horsehide. If you have a genuine Asano Koma nagura or a kamisori, I'd also be interested ;)
As always, please ask for insurance if you'd like me to get it. I cannot afford to cover all the packages I send out, so if you're really worried, then please pay the extra 5-10 bucks it usually costs to insure your package. The only thing the USPS ever lost for me was a limited edition razor that I had bought for myself
