It was gonna happen. My latest G, in matt army green. I really feel good about this one. There's nothing at all flashy about it; nothing extraneous. Its just pure ergonomic and functional brilliance. I found the article I've linked to quite interesting and though I can understand the yen for a solid steel case, I do think its likely that the new generation is in fact stronger. I've been trying to fuind a review I read the other day, of a G which was
    - frozen in ice at -25 degrees C for 24 hoursa
    - frozen in a lab at -65 C
-boiled at 99 degrees C for 10 mins
    then
-driven over by a Range Rover
    and still worked perfectly.
The more i learn about these things, the more respect I have for them.

I do like some of the G-shock watches but I wish the ones I liked were thinner.

I love the Casio G-shock. I have it in red. They are tough and that is why I bought it. I wanted something that I could climb a mountain in or go swimming in and never have to worry about wrecking it. Mine also has the tides, which will be nice if I ever get to move to Hawaii.

    Nice one,Steve.

I've been looking for one myself, model GW-7900B-1ER, but it seems to be out of stock everywhere. Anyone know if this model is in production, and where to get it?

Believe it or not, my daily watch is a Rolex Date/just and I have been looking at getting a G Shock. I want something for those times I go to the beach, travel etc. They appear to be built to a very high standard and last seemingly forever. And the price is low enough that I am not petrified leaving it in a hotel room safe.

I very nearly bought the GW-7900 in army green. They've got the green and the blue one in my local Casio-only shop. I think the black one could look like its trying to hard on the wrong person, but in matt green it really has authority. I went for the 5600 as I think the information is displayed in a far more considered fashion.....plus I don't really need a tide graph. It was a close-run thing tho

I guess I may have to settle for some other GW-7900 model, as it seems that the one I want is no longer available?

I just liked the negative dial and somewhat different layout more. Bummer...

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I pulled the trigger on an black G-9700 G-Shock, as it's on discount on Amazon. It's not a 'radio controlled' or solar powered like the GW series, but the functions and the look is pretty similar. Will post photos once it arrives?

You're just addicted to black aren't you? It might seem a little superficial, but I can relate. I really wanted a 5600 atomic solar, but the only ones in-stock were the shiny shiny black with that funny multicoloured bezel....yeuch! I hope you're happy with it...............post pics.

    Sure, will do.

I can't really see myself wearing other than black or olive G-shocks. Well maybe a blue one. Those red, lime, yellow and white ones are a bit too radical for my taste. And that negative dial would have been cool.

Ok, my G-Shock arrvived, and here's a shot.

I am liking it a lot. I don't really need the tide function, as I live inland, and the nearest sea (Baltic Sea) doesn't even have tides to speak of, but it's neat anyways.
