I've only been using creams and had settled on JM Frasers as the "best for me". I was searching the site for another one to try that was "similar to Frasers" and stumbled upon this old posting:

where someone had found a soap (Institut Karite) that served better than Frasers. Well... I had to give that a try!
WOW The soap lathers great, shaves super nice, and most importantly my face feels fantastic for the rest of the day. I'm sure the hard puck will last a long time so this will be my go-to lather for awhile.
