  1. Default Question for the tea drinkers

Does anyone know a good online store for purchasing lapsong souchong tea?

I love the heavy smokiness of this tea - the darker and smokier the better!

    Thanks

    Rick

+1 I enjoy Charles, Lapsang very much. It's in the Other Products part of the site.

We need Scotto for this one. I usually buy from Ten Tea, but never mail order. Half the fun is going there and arguing with the help.

I have had good experineces with http://www.uptontea.com, but I can't say much about their Lapsong Souchong, as I have never ordered any. They do however have reviews on their website that may help. Best - MM

I'll make an analogy to American Chardonnay here - sometimes L.Souchong is like a contest to see who can impart the most amount of smoky essence in the tea, much like oakiness in Chardonnay. Are the more intensely flavored teas/wines better? Not necessarily; in fact super-heavy smoke can cover up defects in the base tea. Personally, I prefer something balanced, with the smoky/piney essence intermingling with the subtle sweetness of the leaf. Charles' stuff is super-intensely smoky. It is very good, but I find my palate fatigues quickly with it, and I can only abide a cup of it once and a while. Other good ones out there (and less expensive) are the versions from specialteas.com (nice sweet background) and inpursuitoftea.com, both excellent e-tailers.

edit: The Upton version is actually pretty nice also - one of the few teas I like from that seller.

Here's another enquiry for Scotto. A good source for White Jasmine Pearl tea. Charles is out of stock. Found some at local Whole Foods, however I wanted to both sets of arms and legs.

I'd try Murchie's. It's the only place I really buy tea from, so I can't say they're better than so-and-so, but I like their stuff. Try their "Russain Caravan", which has a lot of Lap-Soo in it.

www.peets.com has a rather good selection of teas, and I've never had problems regarding quality from them.
