Please allow me to introduce myself:

What is your real name?
Michael Todd Mason
What are your nicknames/aliases?
Sadly, I am bereft of nicknames. Furthermore, I'm fairly insistent on friends and family calling me by my full name, rather than a nickname such as Mike, Mickey, or Mick.
I've had an interest in etymologies from an early age and remember learning around the age of twelve that Michael translated from the Hebrew as "Who is like god?" which I thought was fairly cool, as opposed to Mike which is an American bastardization which means nothing.
Where do you live?
Columbus, Ohio in the middle of the great bland mid-west. I grew up in a small to medium sized town for most of my life, but have been living in downtown Columbus about a mile from OSU main campus for the last two years since my wife began her Masters program.
What is your age (or) generation?
30, about to turn 31. I'm just barely on this side of generation X, which suites me fine given that I've always been a bit of a cynic.
What are you in the real world?
A student in the Masters of Social Work program at Ohio State. My focus is in chemical dependancy and substance abuse, with my goal to work as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, either in an outpatient drug treatment clinic or in a psychiatric setting helping patients with a dual-diagnosis.
What is your favorite shave setup?
Preparation & Method: Ice-water shave & prep.
Razor & Blade: Heavy Duty Classic loaded with a new Feather.
Brush & Soap: Simpson Colonel lathering up Mitchell's Wool Fat.
AfterShaves: I use both Alcohol-Free Rose Witch-Hazel & Proraso Liquid After Shave Cream after every shave.
What are your hobbies and favorite activities?
I don't have any terrible exciting or expensive hobbies (aside from wet-shaving). Aside from that:
-I'm an exercise enthusiast and spend at least one to two hours everyday at the gym in either cardio or strength training.
-I love to read on a number of subjects, especially Greco-Roman mythology; science (particularly evolutionary biology and astronomy); philosophy as it relates to skepticism, religion, & atheism; textual biblical criticism & higher criticism, and early Christian history and heresies; and pretty much anything related to the Hellenistic period or culture.
-Lastly (for now), I enjoy cooking, especially Lebanese (my mother's family is Lebanese) and vegan food (I've been a vegan since I was a teenager).
What else should the members of B&B know about you?
I like long walks on the beach, candlelit dinner, and cuddling on the couch after a long day...oops probably not what this question was asking.
-I'm quite garrulous by nature. Consequently, most of my posts take the form of multi-paragraph walls-o-text.
-I fancy myself as something of a beard elitist. For me, shaving isn't so much about beard removal as it is beard shaping. I prefer my beards big, bushy, and covering a good deal of the face. I absolutely loath these short-kept beards so prevalent in the corporate world; if I can see skin beneath your whiskers then you don't have facial hair worthy of being called beard. And don't get me started on petit-goatees (a goatee that only covers the very bottom of the chin)...everytime I see a guy embarrassing himself walking around with one, I want to hand him a damp rag and tell him to wipe the dirt from his chin.
-Oh, I don't know. I could go on all night and probably will if I let myself. I will close with a brief flurry of factoids about myself. I am: an autodidact & pedant, a metaphysical naturalist & atheist, and perhaps most importantly have been with my college sweetheart (we both were English Majors and both worked in the writing lab together) for seven years, two of which we've been married. Ironically, even though we were both Humanities Majors as undergraduates, now she's a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and I'm pursuing a career in Social Work. Life is funny that way, I guess.
