    Default Collecting vintage blades?

    Long story short.

The other day I went to the house of a local guy, who was selling a small lot of vintage safety razors. He didn't know anything about them, and had picked them up as part of lots when collecting vintage blades, which was his passion.

He showed me his collection while I was there, and I was struck by how cool the graphics and design were on those old blade wrappers. They looked especially great when displayed together in frames, which was how he had them.

So now I have another hobby.

I bought a lot of 100 on ebay this morning, so I am off to a good start. My question, can you guys point me to a specific web site or resource that I can use to research these things? I'm pretty knowledgeable about vintage razors, but the blades from back in the day are still a mystery to me.

I know nothing about it, except that I've seen the wrappers and, once, a huge collection, something like 3800 of 'em, up for sale on eBay this past summer for close to a couple thousand bucks. A quick search might turn up the thread with the link.

I've got a couple old Gillette Blades in the wrapper I display in my straight cabinet, but just for curiosity sake.
    Sounds like an interesting find.

I think they are cool too. I have about three different ones that came with razors from antique stores. I think I will frame them when I get a few more. Somebody on here has some like that(Topgumby I'm wanting to say but not sure) and I really liked the look.
