    Default Hot water for me

For me, hot water when shaving and cold water to rinse when done.

Whatever, works for you is best.

Hot water to begin with, especially hot lather, nothing is better than that. I splash cold water on my face after shaving to close my pores.

    Thumbs up Hot for me

I prefer hot water for my shaves. Some swear by cold water shaves and they are right too. Cold water allows for the cells around the hair follicles to shrink/retract, exposing more of it to be cut...after the shave, when the skin returns to normal temperature, the skin expand back to its original form, engulfing the "cut" hair...you will get a smoother shave.

At some point, I would like to try this...but, I do enjoy the feel of my warm lather too much right now .
    Cheers,
    Robert

I soak a towel i hot water, and leave it on my face until it starts to loose temperature.
Hot water for the lather, and soak the towel in cold water to wipe of lather residue, and close the pores.

Hot water for me. I soak my brush in hot water while showering and I've noticed hot water seems to get the gunk out better when rinsing between passes. Cold water to wash my brush and face afterwards though.

Some guys here have used cold water and reported it worked fine , but hot water feels the best!! I could never try cold water shaving myself.

    Cold water is too cold.

Warm water. To hot and it evaporates and your lather dries faster than it should.

I've heard some really good things about cold water shaves, and the guys in favor of it have really convincing arguments. To me, though, it's just not as comfortable as a hot shave.

I'm willing to entertain the notion that I'm not doing it right, and I may give it a real college try some day, but right now, it's hot all the way for me with a cold splash at the end.
I hate to break it to you but there's no big lie, no system; the universe is indifferent.

+1. Hot is too hot; dries your skin and your lather. Some soaps that dry my skin more, like Tabac, perform best with luke-warm water for me.

Hot, if available. Warm, then cold, for rinse.

IMHO its gotta be hot or at least warm. Cold just doesn't cut it for me. Of course as with anything shaving, YMMV.

+1. When I started I always used hot water thinking it was the best, but by the time I got to my third pass my lather would be drying out. Switched to warm and it is much better.
