An update to this thread with my latest find. Found this mint condition Surrey set at a flea market yesterday for the princely sum of $5. I know these sets aren't considered very glamorous but the soap is outstanding so that alone made it worthwhile. And this puck is the older style like michiganlover and Saltchuck have.

The similar blue Surrey brush seen in the above picture is actually pretty good, much better than the VDH that replaced these so I'm hoping this one is just as good.

For now this puck will go into storage until I use up the first one. If you ever run across this soap I can highly recomend picking it up if the price is anywhere near reasonable.

Thanks. Used it myself today, and to keep it all Surrey I also used the Model T mug and the white brush. The mug is a tad small so it'll probably just get put away or used as a coffee cup.

Used the vintage Surrey soap this morning. The neutral scent is most gone but it performed very well and it is moisturizing. Great for winter.

Good to hear. Not much is said about this soap, just doesn't seem to be very common, but it works great.

I have one still in plastic like in the OP and was kicking around the idea of listing it on B/S/T. I've got a bunch of stuff to clear out that isn't getting used any more. So what is a fair price for this stuff?

$10 shipped. If it doesn't initially sell you still have a fair amount of room for price discounts, and you can still get a good ending price.

Thanks, I have a pile of stuff that I haven't used in the past year that needs to go to a new home.

I thought I'd revive this thread since I picked up another puck of vintage Surrey. With a $.37 price tag I'm guessing maybe from the 70's? This is a very, very good soap that doesn't get talked about a whole lot.

Tom, since it was wrapped do you think there will be any scent left? Any ingredients list?

I can't detect any scent through the wrapper and no ingredients list.

It is a very good soap. I recently rediscovered it along with some other vintage soaps that I had forgotten about in a box in the basement. It was with a set like yours Tom, except the auto on the mug I have is a Packard. The set box says "distributed by Surrey, Austen TX." The puck and the brush look identical. I have another identical puck that I think is older.

    Tom,

Did you detect a difference between the first one you referenced in the thread and the soaps you bought more recently?

I'm still working on the first one I found. I need to concentrate on using it up so I can start in on one of the other ones to see how they compare.

Finally got around to grating up this puck of Surrey and used it this morning with the white Surrey brush that came with it. It has a very, very light soap scent and produced great lather.

The old box with the horse and wagon is pretty awesome.

For what it's worth (what the heck I buy my internet a month at a time) the 'wagon' in the logo is a type of carriage known as a surrey. Somewhat ironic isn't it that they should feature a series of mugs devoted to horseless carriages? Guess I'll have to keep an eye out for it at flea markets and antique stores (always a depressing venue since they seem to have more and more items that I purchased new as the latest technology once upon a time) for a puck or two.
