Your best bet is to visit Marshalls/TJ Maxx and see what they have for sale. They are usually about 50% off.
Hmmm. Caswell-Massey's are pretty good, but not really very cheap. Pre de Provence makes some very nice soaps for about $6.00 a bar - which sounds high, but the bars are pretty darn big, and last a long time. Not as hefty as the Claus Porto, but definitely no slouch.

Over here, Bronnley is pretty affordable, though by no means ultra-cheap. It is said that Bronnley even makes Trumpers bath soap, which proves that they really are top top quality soaps. I also adore Yardleys (real) English lavender bath soap, which comes in about the same price league. Also top quality: if it's good enough for the Duke of Edinburgh, it's good enough for me.
Trader Joe's has a few options. Look for "Trader Jacque". It's a TJ branded French tripple milled soap. I believe there are a few scents. The Almond Ginger oatmeal soap is very nice.
