    Default Backpacking with Gillette

Having recovered from a broken back, I'm finally getting to go backpacking again and I can take my little travel kit Gillette 3-piece out for a test run. I shaved with it once when I first got it and it did just fine, so I'll be back in four days and I'll post a field report with pics.

After back surgery earlier this which has still left me in pain and using a walking stick it's good to see your story.

Congratulations on your recovery and good luck on your hike.

Packing is the only time I will ever use a black-handled SS. Never really liked them, but they are compact and light. That and some old C&E Almond Oil soap and I am G2G.

PSO: Find a collapsible travel cup on eBay, shaving in your canteen cup is gross.

    Default Home Again!

I'm happy to report that I was able to hike for three days with a full pack (prob. less than 25lbs, but I don't weigh my pack anymore) and, while I had to take it easier than before my accident, I was just fine on the trail and oh so happy to be back!

My little travel razor worked just great. I don't use a mirror when shaving on the trail. Just do it all by feel and I think the tiny size of the razor helps me feel my way around my face, neck and nape.

Anyway, thanks to all for the words of encouragement, and here are some pics. My tent set up at Maidu Lake. What I woke to in the morning. And my trusty little travel razor that will be coming with me to many places now that I'm back in the saddle again!
