    Default Single Edge Blades?

I bought a few SE razors today, and I've been looking around for days. What is recommended? I've googled to-and-fro and haven't come up with anything but utility razors (for scraping windows and such). What is generally accepted to be a good SE blade? Where do you get them?

Ted Pella PTFE-coated blades are usually considered to be one of, if not, the best SE blades out there. There was just a group buy on these blades but you can find them at a couple places.

There are a bunch of threads around about SE blades. Here is one:

You can always pick up the single edge blades at Walgreen's Pharmacy. They carry them to tide you over till you decide if you want to make a larger purchase. The blades carried by Walgreen's Pharmacy come Ten to a packaged dispenser. If memory serves me right, I think you can also purchase some single edge blades at Rite Aid pharmacy. Both of these Pharmacy's allow you to purchase the blades either on line or through their b&m stores.

    Cheers

You can purchase the coated Gem blades directly from Personna with free shipping:

These are the same blades sold in the shaving section at Walgreens.

The Treets are at Rite Aid, also made by ASR, but Carbon Steel, I believe.

....and they are great blades. I get close, smooth shaves from them. I only get 3 or 4 shaves from them (possibly because of edge rusting), but i have used several different DE blades that didn't last any longer.
Even at $3.99-$4.99/10, they're a lot better deal than FUsion blades.

Any sources for the Blue Stars? They are another ASR carbon steel product, but I don't know of any chains that carry them......

Those Blue Stars rust easily. I would stay away from them if you can get any other blade easily and cheaply.

I bought the Personna Gems, a la Walgreens. $5.99 for 10 of them. I don't know why they have to send them in that stupid plastic blade vault.... the damn thing almost cut my finger off. Best to have them wrapped in a tiny piece of paper, thank you very much. The lady at the checkout was confused that I was buying those blades, though. I think she was going back and forth between "Is he a masochist, or is he a painter?".

Who says they're mutually exclusive? I knew a girl in college that was both.

    True story.

    Not really.

Yeah, but really it's always fun to watch people's expressions when you buy a razor blade. It's always a woman at the register for some reason... and still, it feels like they're judging me for not using using the "right" equipment to shave my face. What do THEY know about face shaving?

I always feel like people must think I'm a drug addict when I'm buying them. I imagine them thinking - how much drugs is this guy doing that he needs 30 razor blades

Some liquor stores in LA actually sell SE blades individually by the cash register - makes it nice and convenient for alcoholic tweakers The blades at the liquor store are obviously paint scraper blades though but I still always look at the open box of blades and smile anyway.
