You can shave entirely without soap, if you just keep a steady stream of hot water flowing on your face as you do so.
But what's the point?
That is a better shave than canned goo!

Think I'll skip it. My most enduring memory of Ivory soap is my mother washing my mouth out with it when I was about four years old (1942)!
I think you are working this backwards; you should find a shave soap that you don't mind also using in the shower. But if you're determined to continue, try Yardley's. First ingredient is sodium tallowate, so it might just surprise you. Or maybe an artisan's bath soap. My Stirling sample felt a bit like a shave soap in the shower with nice, rich suds.I'm trying to reduce my carry on suitcase so have been shaving with different brands of bath soap to see what works best. I picked up a 3 pack of Ivory and gave it the college try 2 nights ago (with one day of stubble).
So, based on the 111 posts so far, it is clear that Ivory Soap is THE. BEST. SHAVE. SOAP. EVER. Can't wait to try it!
Been there and done it. Dove soap lathers and performs a lot better than Ivory, though I prefer a good shaving soap.
