What's new

What do you collect aside from razors, and why?

I don't really collect anything besides razors, not that I could afford to anyway.

I do have a few nice watches, half a dozen fountain pens, approx 100 sets of cufflinks and a humidor full of nice cigars but I don't class any of them as collections, they are just items of pleasure I've acquired.

It appears i've started a new obsession with hones. Besides that, i've been known to collect Civil War memorabilla. When i was a kid my dad would take me and my Mom on these "family vacations" which were really just tours of Civil War battlefields. At 7 or 8 years old i wasn't very interested in history lessons. But apparently it stuck with me because i love reading about the Civil War today. Also, i love tools. Thats another obsession i have. Snap On tools. Yummy

I have recently started to collect fountain pens and have a decent start on a small Bible collection. I have a few Peterson pipes that are a staple in my rotation and always have my eye out for more.

I'm going to sound like a nerd.

1st editions. But only from a few writers. I checked recently and one book I paid $100 for is now $1,200.

Silver dollars. Trade, Morgan, Peace. My Grandfather started me.

Flashlights. You carry an umbrella when rain is in the forecast, well, it gets dark every day. I don't have lots, but what I have is good.

InFisherman. More an accumulation. I'm a charter member and have every thing Ron and Al Lindner or Bill Binkleman have published since the beginning of time.

Fishing tackle. As you might have assumed from the above.

not much more of a nerd than the rest of us! :biggrin1:

For me I guess you could say beer, cigars, and pipes/tobacco. Which I would love to say I use, but must say I collect because I can't smoke inside and never have the time to set aside to enjoy a cigar or a pipe that often other than maybe once or twice a week and drinking often enough to get through the beer that I do have would be highly frowned upon as I work for a school district.

I collect it all because it's good stuff...I just wish I had the time to enjoy it. I will make time some day though.

Stamps. Yes, stamps. Specifically, stamps that feature churches, chapels, cathedrals, or other Christian architecture / art. It is great fun to hunt them down, and it combines many of my interests into a single hobby.

And books. Far too many books.

Hard Rock Cafe pins-my friends and family get them whenever they go on vacation.

Autographs-I used to try and meet people and then when I was on tours, they just came naturally.

Georgia Satellites-I work for the band so I keep all of the archives for them

Dan Armstrong stuff-guitar/bass/amp builder. Any cool pics of people playing his instruments, fliers and of course the actual instruments themselves. Had to sell 2 fretless basses recently, which almost killed me but.....

I dont really collect razors. I have 2 that I use so not much of a collection.

As a kid I used to collect Rocks, Stamps, and Coins.

Before Wet Shaving my main hobby was tarantulas. I collect almost anything I see with a tarantula on it: Books, magazines, stickers, toys, figureines, posters, and yes even tarantulas themselves. At one point I had 18 of them. Now I only have 8 (had to downsize).

Here is one of my favorites (they are all favorites )

-Still collect sportscards every now and then.
-A few comics too, trying to find graded copies of comics from the month/year I was born.
-College shotglasses...too many to count
-Vintage Poker chips, sets or individual chips. I live in Vegas so I always pick up a $1 or $5 from whatever casino we hit up.
-Shoes, nike air max 95's are my weakness.

Barber items (other than razors). Old hair tonics, aftershave bottles, signs, displays, clippers, brushes etc....

I don't know if Cigars count as something you collect, but I have humidors in every room of the house. Except the bathroom, because c'mon, that'd be weird.

Yeah, it would be weird. Anyone knows you don't need a humidor in a bathroom because it is already humid. A plain old cigar box works just fine. A strong cigar makes it unnecessary to use some silly floral air freshener. Cigar smoke is the ultimate air freshener!
