What's new

Well, I bit the bullet...

Just what I need, another AD, on top of the CAD, PAD, and TAD that I already have...I hit the westcoastshaving.com website and sorta made up my own starter kit after reading tons of posts, and bought the following...

RB-SAM-003 DE Blade Sampler Pack
RZ-MER-15C Merkur 15C Classic Safety Razor, Open Tooth (I have a heavy beard)
SB-VUL-1016 Vulfix 1016 Pure Badger Shaving Brush
OP-MER-775 Col. Conk Chrome Safety Razor Stand
AS-PRO-002 Proraso Pre/Post Shaving Cream
AS-THA-6576 Thayers Original Witch Hazel w/ Aloe Vera Astringent
SS-DRH-MAR D.R. Harris Marlborough Shaving Soap in Beech Wood Bowl
OP-WCS-BNK Double Edge Blade "Bank"

Then I hit ebay to pick up a few vintage Gillette razors:

For a less aggressive starter razor: Vintage Gillette Tech Razor NIB

...and a butterfly (TTO), just for the hell of it: Vintage 1951 Gillette Slim Black TTO Razor MIB

I sure hope I like this, but then anything that would help keep me from ripping up my face on multi-bladed disposibles and electric razors has to be a good thing...

When I first started shaving with a DE razor, my wife was worried that I'd spend a bunch of money on shaving goodies and then decide that I didn't like it.
Now she's worried because I spent a lot of money on it and I like it too much.

You did a good job putting together a starter kit. The Tech is one of my favorite razors. It is mild and very easy to maneuver- perfect starting razor and many find it so good, they don't find a need to change from it as they progress.
