Slant bar and blade

Hi everyone, first post.

After using a Merkur long handle for a couple of months I finally took the plunge and decided to try out the Merkur Slant Bar.

I haven't used it yet, but I've noticed that depending on how I load the blade, the blade doesn't get secured consistently. Sometimes the blade looks like a proper guillotine against the body of the razor and sometimes it looks like it's perfectly straight.

So my questions are:

1. Is this an issue or am I OCD?
2. What should a properly armed slant bar look like?

Welcome to the forum! You aren't OCD--loading a slant takes a little more work than other razors, since the blade doesn't always sit evenly.

How you load the blade makes a huge difference.

1. It is an issue. 2. Right after I start to screw the handle back on, I flip it and sort of "guide" the blade by those end tabs so that when it finally tightens up, its as straight as can be. It sometimes takes a few times, though.

Yeah, let me just say welcome! I love the slant razor (tried the regular bar and the open comb), I think its the bees' knees!
