Ah, ok, so THAT'S what BBS means...

So I shaved off my beard and started using a DE about a month ago, with mediocre results. I'd had varying results with a multitude of blades; almost always better than with a cartridge razor, but only marginally so, and I was getting way more irritation that I thought I should. I read the blade angle tutorial and realized I had been going at it WAY too steep.

I modified my angle of attack, and yesterday got the closest shave I've ever had with ZERO irritation. Everything but the area right below my chin was BBS, and now 24 hours later it's all still smoother than I usually got with a cartridge. Very, very cool.
