Thumbs up What is your blade count?

What (and how many) blades do you have?

I'm currently sitting at the WCS everything sampler, 100 Feathers, 100 Iridiums, 100 Astras, 100 Israeli red Personnas, and 100 Crystals. So about 600'ish blades. I'm sure I'm a small "blade whore" compared to most!

I have about 700 split between my two favorites and a few random 5 packs from a sampler. No real desire to buy more unless I can get a super deal on the Gillette Super Thins.

I'm over 6,500 blades now. It's time to slim down the hoard.

It's a rough count, because I'm trying to recall everything:

    Bluebird - 300
    Shark Super Chrome - 300
    Derby Extra - 200
    Feather - 200
    Gillette Platinum Plus - 600
    Gillette Bleue Extra - 1200
    Souplex - 500
    PermaSharp - 200
    Astra Platinum - 250
    Timor - 200
    Bolzano - 100
    Schick Plus Platinum - 50
    Gillette Super Stainless - 100
    Iridium Super - 400
    Wilkinson Super Sword - 50
    Wilkinson Classic - 100
... and about 300 or so in odds & ends.

    So ... somewhere around 5000, I guess.

I forget the number, but counting DE & SE blades, I have enough for the next 7 or 8 years.

Concerned blades may deteriorate due to corrosion or blade eating Semites I've been reticent to amass a huge inventory of blades. What is the shelve life of properly stored blades? Oh, yes, what does "properly stored" entailed?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Storage is easy enough, just keep 'em air and water/moisture/humidity tight and in their original packaging. Avoid jostling them around any more than is necessary. Kept this way, they'll last probably forever. I find zip loc-type bags (the thicker ones) + a dessicant (sp) pack do the trick nicely. Tupperware w/ dess. pack is an option too. Our more apocalyptic members have also used ammo storage canisters.

As for hording... you never know when your favorite blade is going to be discontinued or have its specs changed (never for the better). It's best to be prepared. Ask anyone that's shaved with a Swede.

amen, I tried the Derby blades with a vertical logo when I started DE shaving. They didnt work great for me. I am sure the folks who stockpiled their favorite Derby (horizontal logo) blades are still in shaving nirvana now.

Oh, and I probably have 95 Derbys (vertical logo)
    95 Bic DE blades
    95 Shark Platinum
    120 Astra Platinum
    90 Dorco 301
    99 Bluebirds
    200 super-max platinums
    140 Super Iridums
    and 98 Feathers

I really should have bought a sampler.....

When you get your post count up, you can always sell off what you don't want to other B&B-ers or PIF them to other newbs.

I don't now about shaving Nirvana, but I find them to shave quite well. I have about 300+ left for future use.

Isn't that enough? I've got blades from a sampler and from a few packs I picked up here and there. Seventeen varieties, 14 if I only count the DE blades. I can't imagine getting a 100-pack until I know which blades I like.
Merkur 38C, Simpson Colonel X2L, Col Conk Almond just now, and one last Wilkinson Sword.
