I have always eaten ketchup on my hot dogs. My father-in-law from NY thinks it is some kind of sacrilege by using it instead of mustard on hot dogs. It comes up every time we eat hot dogs around each other. His daughter (my wife) also prefers ketchup...it bugs him.
I've come across many NYers who feel the same way as him...must be a NY thing.
Now my son also likes ketchup on dogs. He jokingly says we're raising him wrong.

I picked up some Sabrett's and Boar's Head this afternoon at a neat little butcher shop that I've never been to. I must say that the Sabrett's carried a bit of sticker shock at $8.99 / lb., but I thought I'd give them a try. I also picked up some Kobe beef burgers that were on sale, which I plan to have for dinner either tonight or tomorrow. To top it all off, they carried my favorite barbeque sauce that I've never been able to find in a brick and mortar store: Ole' Ray's Apple Cinnamon BBQ Sauce.
I'm embarrassed to admit I was a ketchup guy for the first twenty years of my life, and took considerable ribbing for it. Nowadays it's-
Ouch: brown mustard and saurkraut
Mrs. Ouch: yellow mustard ad cole slaw
Ouchette: hot dog wrapped in pizza dough with ketchup
It takes longer to take out all of the condiments than it does to cook dinner.![]()

Life is too short to share that bacon with anyone.
I found some all organic, grass fed, all beef ones at a market here in Denver. They are the best I have had in a long time. I don't know if you can find any thing like that in Indy though. And I can not remember the name of them. So I guess I am little to no help on the subject...![]()

Ketchup on hot dogs? That's like pouring a beer over ice or, Heaven forbid, putting something in your coffee.
Mustard is the only appropriate sauce-like condiment.
Hebrew Nationals or Nathans at my house.
Cucumber, onion, tomato and mayo
or brown mustard and sauerkraut
or meat sauce, melted cheese, onions, jalapeños, Tabasco, brown mustard
and sometimes just off the grill in a bun naked.
Hot dogs, the ninth wonder of the world.
I see the Nathans contest this 4th was won with 54 dogs sucked down in ten minutes.
Being that you are in Indianapolis go here: http://www.clausgermansausageandmeats.com/
Their weinners and sausages are out of this world. Bacon to die for and when it used to be Klemm's they had outstanding lunchmeats/coldcuts, give them a try, I think you'll like what you get here. Byond that Hewbrew National is great and if you can find them Vienna Beef out of Chicago...
I'm a simple man to please, I simply require the best.
Yeah, really. Ballpark Franks are near generic status to me...unless he's talking about hot dogs from ballparks and not the Ballpark brand.
:D
I must admit, the dogs at Camden Yards are very good. They're huge. Last game I went to a couple of years ago, they were about $5 each though.
They're called Esskay Oriole Franks...but they're not the same ones you buy in the grocery store.
I'd only ever had them with ketchup before reading this thread. I've been using mustard all day (I've eaten 6 hotdogs in 24 hours haha). My favorite has been a lot of mustard with a little bit of ketchup on a Nathan's dog.
