Default Is there a difference between these razors?

    1) Edwin Jagger DE razor - Chrome plated
    2) Edwin Jagger DE razor - Lined Chrome plated
and what is the difference other than one says lined ?
What does lined mean and how does it affect the shave ?

They have a different price so I guess they are different.

and I am thinking that this one
    3) Edwin Jagger DE razor - Black
is similar to #1 above only with a black handle.

    Correct ?

And is there a link to figuring out what the various codes mean on the Jaggers, Muhle, and Merkur ?

    thanks

Curses, this is becoming an addiction to me.

As far as I know, all those Jaggers have the same head. The difference is in the handle. I have the Jagger EJ87 in the ivory style and the same head. My favourite razor!

As far as I know the lined DE89L version means that the handle is textured/lined as opposed to the regular DE89 which is smooth handled.

Correct. They share the same head, they are "clones" only with a a different head.

See this post. All EJ and some Mühle razors share the same heads, the only difference is the handle.

Mühle R89 has a nice chrome handle with an extremely fine engraved finish.
Mühle R106 features a polished black handle.

I have the Mühle R89... and it is my favourite razor!

Has anybody compared the two black-handled razors (EJ DE86 vs Muhle R106)? Is there a different feel or heft to the handle, or is the slightly different design of the chrome sections of the handle the only difference?

I think that Mühle R89 has a better grip, because of the texture of the handle... And I think that it is better looking too! But YMMV :)

The slick handle ones may have a less better grip. Besides that, I think they are all the same, aesthetics aside.
