Finish

OK. This may be a little off the mark but you are the only people to ask. I recently got back my fathers brush after sending it to Shavemac for a new brush head. My question is finish of the handle. It's wood; not and expensive brush at all. He probably got it at a drug store or something. It's a Century and there is no finish at all on the handle. I was thinking of just oiling it. Probably not painting it. Any opinions?

It wood  depend on what type of wood it is, and what you want the wood to look like after finishing.

Oiling it will work, or polyurethane will work forever. I recently took a cheap and ugly Tweezerman badger brush and made it very pretty by masking off the brush, and then spraying it with several coats of a deep blue high gloss enamel. It ended up looking quite pretty.
