    Default Richwood Set

Shortly after joining the forum, I stumbled across the Geocities site with the date codes for Gillettes. Accidentally, i think, i jumped over to the page that has photos of different razors and sets. Included in that group was the Gillette Richwood set. I thought 'this looks pretty sweet, but doubted that i would ever see one in person.
Through eBay-ing for a couple of months, I was able to cobble together an entire set. Surprisingly, all pieces are still in very good shape after 80-some years. The box came from England, the razor from France and the blade case from Germany.
I thought some of you might be interested in the results.
(I apologize because i think either my camera or my photographic skills suck....and i'm quite sure it's the former!)

Man, I just scored a Richwood box and the blade holder this weekend! Came with a '54 red tip super speed inside though. Paid $10 for the whole set.
If you have any ideas where I can get the razor to go with it, please let me know.

Does that SS truly have a Z date code?

My fault. The red tip SS in my picture is a 1955 code A-1 (my original post said it was a '54).
I would like to find a Richwood to match the box and blade holder though.

I have a similar wood box I bought off e-bay. Mine doesn't say what razor it held and the logo's on a raised panel. I keep my Barbasol in it and a blade case.

That's a Big Fellow case. My Krumholz book says they were made of gumwood. It fits that big ol' Barbasol perfectly, doesn't it?

That Big Fellow case is different than my two Big Fellow cases...I like yours better.

Great looking set, your determination paid off handsomely. There has been a box for sale on ebay, and I wondered what a person would do with it -- and now I know. Thanks for sharing!

Those wooden boxes are highly prized. Besides Vintage large Gillettes, Toggles fit perfectly and the Fatboys and Slims fit well also. The only box I like better is the Chrome box that Vintage Merkurs come in.
