I had an open comb at one stage and loved it. I'm thinking that I should try a straight eventually. They don't seem to be that common... Any more info on the Hoffritz Straight Razor?

I have one inbound, I'll let you know after it arrives.

Hoffritz was a reseller, not a manufacturer.
Ultimately, it will depend on the folks who made the Hoffritz rebranded item.
I've had Hoffritz branded items that ranged from excellent to downright mediocre.
I have a 2 razor set of CVH straights that have the name Hoffritz etched on the blade. Haven't shaved with them yet.
Hoffritz was a reseller, but a high end one.
James Bond preferred Hoffritz razors (though being the wuss he was, he used a DE.)

Note: I'm going by memory here, but if I recall correctly, James Bond (the original, Ian Fleming's) disliked NYC. In one of the short stories, Bond said that visiting Hoffritz's store on Madison Avenue, to purchase one of their "Much better than Gillette" razors, was one of the few reasons worth visiting that town.
I've never tried (or even heard of) their straights.

Thanks for the info Gents!
I will wait for some more feedback on someone who used them. I've seen stamped Hoffritz straights, that's why!
