I put some 1881 Cerruti on chest and neck this morning, but when I got to work I found a sample of Montale "Aoud Lime" and but some on my wrist. It is the latter I am smelling. Pretty much Black Aoud (rose) with a bit of citrus, I thought. But it is not so much citrus as a sharpening of the rose scent. The notes do not actually list lime.
The notes around the web on this scent seem very confusing and confused. Folks complain about harshness. Others say it smells like household cleaning solutions. I do not get any of that. Some say it opens with a blast of lime others say they smell not lime. As this dries down it seems to get better and better. I am not sure whether I get the impression of lime in the dry down or not. It seems lighter in dry down BA. Maybe more a daytime frag.
This might be one I really love over time. If I were ordering from Montale and getting its free traveler 20 ml, I would definitely pick this one for that 20 ml right now.
Anyone else have thoughts on the Lime? Or the 1881 for that matter. The 1881 seemed nice. A green dry floral they say. Not sure I was in the mood for it this morning though.

Wow, nice photo of your wife!Just kidding, of course! Nice picture, period, though. It seems very evocative of certain rose scents, although I have not tried the Labo 31 yet.
I like the Knize Forest photo, too. Something in KF seems to throw me off though. Takes me away from the pure forest scenario, which it does not seem to do to others!

As I said, I could be wrong. So far, I've heard of oud being sourced from Malaysia, Borneo, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, China & the Assam region of India. It's entirely possible that some oils could come from the border area between Pakistan & India. Would be interesting to know what part of Pakistan the wood came from.
