    Le Labo Rose 31

I'm liking this juice more and more. The wife was not a fan yesterday, but we'll see if it grows on her...

I put some 1881 Cerruti on chest and neck this morning, but when I got to work I found a sample of Montale "Aoud Lime" and but some on my wrist. It is the latter I am smelling. Pretty much Black Aoud (rose) with a bit of citrus, I thought. But it is not so much citrus as a sharpening of the rose scent. The notes do not actually list lime.

The notes around the web on this scent seem very confusing and confused. Folks complain about harshness. Others say it smells like household cleaning solutions. I do not get any of that. Some say it opens with a blast of lime others say they smell not lime. As this dries down it seems to get better and better. I am not sure whether I get the impression of lime in the dry down or not. It seems lighter in dry down BA. Maybe more a daytime frag.

This might be one I really love over time. If I were ordering from Montale and getting its free traveler 20 ml, I would definitely pick this one for that 20 ml right now.

Anyone else have thoughts on the Lime? Or the 1881 for that matter. The 1881 seemed nice. A green dry floral they say. Not sure I was in the mood for it this morning though.

Wow, nice photo of your wife! Just kidding, of course! Nice picture, period, though. It seems very evocative of certain rose scents, although I have not tried the Labo 31 yet.

I like the Knize Forest photo, too. Something in KF seems to throw me off though. Takes me away from the pure forest scenario, which it does not seem to do to others!

Why thank you, I tried hard to get the right one!

You'll be able to try the Le Labo soon enough. Once I get a proper decant bottle, you're in business...

Auod Lime is one on their website that intrigued me...

    Aoud Lime Notes
Aoud from the Pakistan, roses from India, iris from Italy, amber, patchouli, sandalwood, saffron

Note the usual list of notes for a lime scent!

Not exactly. For me, feeling great doesn't necessarily equate to feeling important.

It's wearing better right now though. Still thinking.

Er...I could be wrong, but I don't think any oud is sourced from Pakistan. Igor? Any comment?

Would Pierre Montale lie to us? If so, we had better have words with him! I got the langauge about Pakistani Aoud from LuckyScent, but it is also on the Montale site itself!

As I said, I could be wrong. So far, I've heard of oud being sourced from Malaysia, Borneo, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, China & the Assam region of India. It's entirely possible that some oils could come from the border area between Pakistan & India. Would be interesting to know what part of Pakistan the wood came from.

Knize forest doesn't smell like a forest I've been in... No distinctly pine or cedar. To its credit, it shares the same unctuous note I love in Ormand Woman.
