Haha! When I first read your post, I seriously thought that was the real inspiration for this fragrance!

Oddly enough a small package arrived from my local NM yesterday - it contained a hand written letter and 3 samples - Green Valley, Tabarome and Aventus.

One quick test and still congested from flying - but I like it distinct basil and fern topnotes, a bit of citrus perhaps, and an aquatic not. None of the amber that is present in a lot of Creeds. I'll try it a few more times over then next couple of weeks. I'd recommend testing it. Not sure if I'll buy - I need to cut back a bit on colognes!

I tried Aventus with a small sample. I may revisit it later.

It's not what some people were expecting. The description of the notes made it sound pretty potent (birch tar in the heart and oakmoss in the base).

But in practice, it's very cologne-ish. i.e. Wears pretty lightly. It has heavy duty and quite pronounced pineapple and apple in the top notes, but they're pretty fleeting.

On me, the heart and basenotes were very light.

Men who like lighter scents may love this. The reviews are pouring in on Basenotes, and some guys really like it, and though it is light, they say it has good legs.

But if you're a fan of older, heavier Creeds, be forewarned. This isn't that kind of fragrance.

I won't crap on it. It's cleearly a high qualifty scent. It's just too light for my tastes and preferences. I think it would probably wear better on me in very hot weather, and haven't had a lot of that this year.

I am not a fan of Creed but I sampled this scent at NM. I actually liked it. It is not overbearing like most of their scents. It lasted a good 8 hours on my person. It did not project out like most of their scents. That's a big plus in my books. I would consider buying this one.

I don't understand how Creed is charging more for Aventus than for their millesime or edt line. It's quality and level of taste is not comprable to the rest of their range imo. It's a very strong pineapple note and a piercing metallic black currant, and everything else is subtle.

the base is actually fairly good, but so weak that one can't really enjoy the base unless they way overapply and suffer thru the piercing metallic Currant/pineapple. I was exited for this one, despite the bad packaging, but the scent itself let me down majorly.

    - Creed Aventus.
Top Notes: Black Currant/Bergamont/ Blanc Apple/Royal Pineapple
Middle Notes: Napoleon Roses/Louisiana Birch/ Egyptian Jasmine/ Patchouli
    Basenotes: Oakmoss/Ambegris/Vanilla
