    Default Introducing Myself

    Hi everyone,
I found this forum from cigars.com's forum. I had been looking around over there and found a thread about this forum and shaving. I use an electric and a combination of cartridge and disposable razors. I can never maintain a close shave due to irritation. Luckly in my line of work (I'm a mechanic) a clean shave is not required so I would resort to shaving once a week, friday or saturday morning. I don't like the scruffy look but shaving everyday is painful and nearly impossible. Well i found this site started reading and I hope DE wetshaving helps clear my face and will allow me to shave everyday with out irritation and pain. So far I have picked up, Bigelow shaving cream,
shea moisture shave brush from Target and Humphreys Witch Hazel. I have on order and should be here tomorrow, DE blade everything sampler,
Merkur 34C, Taylor's Almond shave cream and a RazorRock Alum. I'll soon post how my first DE shave goes.

Thanks to everyone here. I have not asked any questions yet but I have learned tons from just lurking.

Welcome! I used to shave only once a week as well during school, but since I started to shave everyday for work, the DE and wet shaving has sure made a huge difference! Good luck!

Welcome to B&B. I had been having the same problem as you but after a week and a half of wet shaving with a DE things are starting to clear up and turn back to normal.

You'll learn more than you thought there was to know about shaving here. And in return all you need to do is go to the speakeasy forum and tell us where to find a good $3 cigar.

Welcome!! Go slow and WTG (with the grain) for your first shave. Stay with it! The shaves (and skin health) get better week after week. Soon you'll be shaving every day because you love it!

    Hi Bono,

Cigars & wet shaving, two of my favorite things. However you find you way here is cool. You made some nice initial purchase decisions! Good luck with the Merkur.

    Welcome to B&B.

Remember short strokes, lightly glide razor over face, beard reduction through a couple passes, not beard removal instantly.

Thanks everybody. Package from West Coast Shaving is here.

So what I have read is that there is no real order as to where to start with the blade sampler. So i 'm going in alphabetical order and will start with the Astra blades. Since I'm learning I will follow the same routine. Shower, Hot towel to the face, Bigelow shave cream.
Now for after shave I have alum, witch hazel and Nivea sensitive balm.
My skin tends to be a little oily, which of the three or combination would you guys suggest? Or is there somthing else I should have bought?

    Thanks for the suport guys.
    Bono
