my dad mentioned, last time we talked about razors, that the best razor he had ever used was the gillette president so i figured that i would buy him one. that being said, i have absolutely no clue what one looks like... i think i found one on ebay could someone verify?

Thats a nice gillette....but not a President Im afraid. If you post a WTB on the BST you'll likely get some responses pretty quick.

Presidents ARE great razors. Good luck finding one for your old man.

edit: Just to give you a heads up, you're probably looking in the $100+ range for an uncased President in Excellent+ condition. Cased, probably more. Very Good condition or worse, probably less. Perceived value may've changed since I purchased mine over a year ago, and/or you may find a particularly generous seller. Good luck!

Unless you have a personal reason for not wanting to post a thread about it... there are no B&B rules prohibiting you from posting a "WTB" (want to buy) thread in the WTB subforum when you're looking for an item. The only restrictions are on posting sale threads (50 posts and 45 days) and on vendors.

That's another Superspeed. Look a little closer at the patterns in the handle (called knurling) and the size and shape of the TTO knob at the bottom of the razor.

Searching "President" may not reveal the ones in hiding... I once found one listed as a "shiny Aristocrat."

well as far as the razor itself goes, is it that different? or is it just the handle pattern?
i found one that has the same knurling and TTO top as the president however it's adjustable...

They are very different razors. The President is probably half an ounce heavier than the superspeeds you're finding, along with a thicker handle and--I'm fairly certain--a different head design. They are just different

No. Compare it to the image posted at the top of the thread, from mr-razor.com. This is a 40s style Superspeed, but hey at least it's different from the 50s style Superspeeds you posted earlier! Making progress!

SWMBO might want to rethink the no-buying-on-the-BST thing. Regardless of where you buy the razor, you are buying a razor. Money is money. If are intent on actually buying a President for your pop you likely will pay more on eBay.

If the last razor you posted is gold, it is not a President. If it is nickel plated I think you may have found what you are looking for.
