Default Daughter is officially a HS Graduate!

Her graduation was last night, and her party was this afternoon. It was the first graduation I have sat through since I walked the aisle. Now, she'll be off to Appalachian State in August. It's been a whirlwind year, but we are quite proud of her accomplishments. Plus it gives us a reason to go to the mountains more often.

Thank you. She is planning to major in Biology at this point, but her major goal is on the horizon is Marine Biology/Veterinary Science. NC State would have been a better choice for what she's eventually wanting to pursue, but it came down to either App State or a few private colleges she wound up being accepted to.

Biology is a great starting point for a lot of different careers. Even if she changes her mind about Marine Biology or Veterinary Medicine, it's still a good foundation that will give her a lot of options.

Congrats my friend! I'm sure you are a very proud dad! Hope you both enjoy a great summer!

App State...they usually have good football teams! Those are the guys who beat my Alma Mater for the Div 1AA national championship a few years back and then the next season shocked Michigan (?)! Nice.
    Is this your homework, Larry?

I'd just as soon forget about that game in Michigan's dark last couple of years

Congrats and biology is a great way to go in college! Not to be a wet blanket, but keep an eye on and minimize student loans if possible - I'll be paying for probably another 15 years. No regrets on the education, but there were a number of things I should have done to keep them down.

Thanks everyone! Yes, I know student loans all too well. My wife is still trying to get hers paid off. The great thing for my daughter is that her Father, (I'm the step-dad to clarify this) has "willed" her his GI Bill. He's a career Marine, and that was her graduation present from him since they allow this to be given to your children, which I guess is something to happen in recent years.

I wasn't aware that the GI Bill was transferrable to family members. Seems like a great way to get enlistment rates up.
