Default Pils Razor - couldn't resist!

Well I tried to stop myself, I really did, but finally I took the plunge and ordered a Pils 101NN.

Surprisingly for a German produced razor, tracking one down in Europe has been much harder than I anticipated, eventually I found one at a retailer in Milan, so at least import duties aren't an issue.

Can't wait to try it, should arrive next week so will let you know how I get on...

Same here. I just ordered one up the other day (all stainless), am really looking forward to getting my hands on it. In the meantime I just drool over the pictures on the internet.

If I like the all stainless I'm going to go for the polished stainless with plated endcap; I think that model is even more beautiful than the all stainless model. In the meantime I have reduced my pile of razors down to a #16, the shave the #16 gives is far superior to any other razor I own.

Congratulations! I hope that it is everything that you hope for when it arrives. I managed to have a look at them last month when I was in Berlin for a few days and they are a wonderful piece of engineering. I almost bought one as well, but decided that a Mühle 89, some shave soap and cologne was a better souvenir for me. Maybe next time

Congrats, especially on getting a 101NN just like I have! The PILS is a Sm-ooo-th shaver, let its great weight do the work....and marvel at the very minimalist packaging, so different from the leather clad, velvet lined cases of old

I wish I had your patience and curse you Stubbs!

I could have gotten the discount. But really, I wouldn't have because I wanted the 118...so...

Here's to Royal getting the gold in...

Nice purchase, although not quite my style of razors.

I think it's the clean lines and minimalist, functional design that does it for me, it does have quite a different appeal than the classic, vintage look of a Super Speed for example.

It's interesting that Pils have gone for a design that really sets this razor apart from other DEs, the new Feather All Stainless for example has quite a traditional Tech styling, with construction being its key selling point.

Above all else it will be quality of shave that will be crucial as aesthetics without function for such an expensive razor would be unforgivable.

Luckily the Aristocrat #16 does, tho I could have done without the crazy price I had to pay for a good one. But the #16 ends up being worth every penny, as it give a phenomenal shave. The Pils will need to do that--and given its reported characteristics, plus reviews, it should. Otherwise, I'll be buying up all the #16s on the BST.
I've earmarked a few razors that will be on the 'for sale' list once the 101 arrives, partly to make myself feel better about spending so much on a new razor but also because the shave just did not live up to expectation.

Mine came in today. the heft is impressive, as is the finish and machine work - - - everything about it is impressive. As soon as the light improves I'll post up better pix. And then a review. Actually, I wouldn't mind a review thread with all the Pils owners posting.

Duncan, have you received yours yet?

The head shape is cool, somewhat reminiscent of a hammerhead shark

I ordered the 101 and was accidentally shipped the 118NN. I was a little disappointed at first, but ultimately decided to keep it since the Feather sits nicely in the all-stainless slot for me. The polished head is really nice, too.

Everything about the Pils is impressive. Some of the finest machine work I've seen anywhere and it's a terrific shaver.

Looks better in person. Hope yours arrives soon.

Had my first shave this AM. I'm going to start another thread on it's shaveability; hopefully I can get all the Pils owners to toss in their comments.
