    Default Complete Avon chess set

Found a complete Avon chess set. All the 3 oz pieces are full, half with Wild Country, the others with Spicy. I've seen individual pieces lots of times but never the whole thing. Cost me $4. The juice alone is worth that.

With the pieces around 4" high, this would make a cool setup. If I knew how to play.

    That is so unbelievably cool!

You yanks get all the good stuff.

An antique chess set filled with cologne? That's pretty much the holy trinity, innit?

But how are the pieces 3oz? Or is that the gross weight of each one? How much juice is in each?
The problem with Arsenal is that they always try to walk it in!

I can't believe that I honestly think that is really awesome.

(Yes, the juice alone is worth your investment - worth far more in my opinion - I really like Wild Country!)

...big question - now what are you going to do with the set?

The ounce weight is just the fluid contents, minus the glass. I'm guessing each bottle is 4-5 oz by itself. So anyway, $2 for 48 oz each of two of Avon's better (but not best) a/s? Oh yeah.

Hey now, you got some of the best looking women in the world, kangaroos, Vegemite, koalas and blue ring octopi. How cool is that? Minus the octopi, I mean.

    Great score, Congrats.

Learning how to play chess is quite easy actually. The board set up and the moves legal for each piece.
    It's a great game.

    Learning how to play chess well;

    That's a different story.

Good question. Wife and I are debating that now. She, being the brains of the outfit, usually wins in such matters.

Since I'm not crazy about either scent and already have more than enough of both, I've decided to offer decants into those old glass spice bottles with the clear PE seals (about 2 oz or so...will offer larger quantities if I can find an appropriate container). I already have those spice bottles...if anyone would be interested in paying exact postage, PM me with which scent/how much you want and I'll get exact postage figured next week when school is finally out.

If you've never tried WC or Spicy, here's your chance (if it's not available to you locally, though, if you look around, it probably is).

    Vegemite sucks

But we DO get some pretty good beer. And kangaroos aren't as much fun as you might think....one of them knocked out a guy here in Canberra as he was going for a lunchtime run. No kidding....he was knocked out cold.

    Two questions:

    How's kangaroo taste?

Is it true Foster's really isn't very popular down there? Just tried some for the first time...it was ok, better than most U.S. stuff, but strong corn aftertaste, or something like it.

Kangaroo tastes like beef, if you didn't know you coulldn't tell.

    Fosters is Australian for budweiser.

Victoria Bitters is much better, so is Cascade Lager.

    But that's just my experience.

I don't think kangaroo tastes like beef - I can definitely tell the difference. Roo has a much stronger flavour to it, almost a gamey/smoky flavour. I think kangaroo is delicious.

But yes, noone drinks Fosters here. At all. You can only find it at big liquor marts - you won't find it at your local bottleshop, and almost definitely won't spot it on tap at your pub (unless you live in a touristy area.)

Our great beers include the James Boag range, anything from the Malt Shovel Brewery, and I've been getting into the Fusion Brewery range lately. Carlton Draught is also a very good basic beer that's sold almost everywhere.

Nice score on the chess set.

I'm not sure I'm familiar with the Avon scents...I do recall having a bullet shaped decanter that was gifted to me while I was a pup, but I can't recall the scent at all. Might have to check them out.

As to the game of chess, my older brother was the state chess champion. Made any attempts by me to play rather pointless.

    Unbelievably cool score. Congratulations!

This is a good opportunity to learn to play too. If you decide to drain the pieces, you should clean them up and decant your favorite aftershaves into different ones. Try to go for as much variety as you can. Then, set up the board. Get a distance game going with somebody--move a piece a day. When you either decide on your move or learn about your opponent's move, that's the aftershave you use that day. Wouldn't that be cool?

That IS a cool idea! Now that school is out, I'd actually have time to do it, too. And I've got enough A/S to fill up one side.
