You can always buy a more expensive straight razor later.
+1 on the products and service that you will get from Tony at www.thewellshavedgentleman.com
Since you are starting out, I would even give him a call and discuss your needs. He provides some of the best service on the Internet for the type of supplies that he stocks.
Is this a good start kit?

Shouldn't I get a better razor? and how is the soap and the brush and so on in this set?
And how is the service? does the razor come "shave ready" for me with a good sharp quality?
oh and btw, do they ship to Israel?
Also
I have sent some E-Mails, but still didn't get any answer from
[email protected]

so you think that for a start spending "only" the $ he wants is OK, and then if I love it, I will probably get other knifes too?
I always thought that I have only ONE nice knife to cut with, so do you usually get or have more then one?
Also, I will probably get a better Brush and a nice soap holder, won't I ?
Isn't it better to spend more $ in the first place and get all the "premium" things? or it better strat more "cheap" and get them later?

EAD,
The quality of your shave, and your shaving experience will be dictated more by your technique and how sharp your razor is, than any details about the razor. In fact, I am of the opinion that the only benefit to a very expensive razor is for it's collectible and aesthetic value. Mind you, that hasn't stopped me from buying a bunch... but, just keep to a good quality set, like Tony Miller's and you will be fine. Dovo makes very nice razors and Tony has a good reputation for honing.
Take care,
John
Hi ead --
I'll echo what others have said. Talk with Tony at the link provided. The Dovo razor is a fine quality razor, from a respected German company. The razor is a modest cost razor appropriate for new shaver or veteran alike, it is not the cheapest razor and certainly more than adequate.
People here consider Tony's service and advice to be excellent, he'll ensure that the razor he provides is honed and shave ready.
After you gain skill with straight shaves and maintaining your kit, you can upgrade. You'll then have the knowledge and personal preferences to know what you'd like to buy.

Wow, thank for all the endorsements guys! I just sent a response off to Ead as I was away yesterday with family and just getting my e-mails today.
I can't take credit for the honing on these as everything I sell is sent off to a member here, Chris Ellison for honing. He is far better at it than I am now and even my personal razors are done by him, not me any longer!
Again, thank you all for your support.
Tony
