Default My New Handcrafted Shaving Stand

Wanting to make a customized stand to hold my two brushes and two razors I thought I would get creative and see what I could put together. I decided on wood for a classic look rather than metal and acrylic.

So I went to Home Depot, bought two pieces of poplar planks. One thicker than the other. I then took a pencil and drew out the design after making the measurements using my razors and brushes. I then took a skill/desk saw and made the major cuts and used a coping saw to cut out the brush and razor slots. I then took sanding paper (various grits) and created the angled edges and smoothed it out to prepare it for staining. Following that I applied a water based pre wood stain conditioner. Then I applied a water based rose wood stain (3 coats). I then applied 3 coats of polyurethane semi gloss to protect against the moisture of the bathroom and stuck on rubber bumpers on the bottom so that it won't sit in the water around the sink.

Very nice job. I have to be one of the only people on this board that has no talent for making anything. Keep up the good work.
