Default Vintage and unusual aftershaves: Post your photos

Collecting aftershaves can take you in a lot of directions. After you've gotten through the mainstream stuff, you realize that there are a lot of strange and interesting ones out there. Let's see what you have. Is it an obscure musk splash from the 70's? A really old bottle of Clubman that you bought from Al Capone's estate? A cannonball full of Old Spice? A stone jug of handcrafted balm from Easter Island? Put up your pictures and share your treasures with the world!

I wonder if that's what led to the residents' "chisled" features

I've seen some great pics of unique bottles and wish I could add some, but I just have to wait to see what every one else comes up with.

Do I detect a Steward badge up with the veteran and contributor fruit salad, Chris? I assume it's this forum you're stewing, and if so, congrats. As I see the Mods picks for stewards coming out and IDing themselves in each forum, I am amazed at what consistently great choicess thay have made. Your choice is no exception - I couldn't have picked a better man for the job. Once again, CONGRATS!

    Hiya,

I have a few older items that some readers might find amusing. First one's a Caron 'Yatagan' set with after shave, bath soap, and EdT(Pour Monsieur) that fits in a handy pouch. I've used both the AS and EdT and the EdT is wild stuff. I believe this is the first incarnation, and dates to the mid 1970s.

The other odd item would be the vintage Aramis decanter.......unopened. Yeah, I can't bring myself to crack the seal......heh. I believe this dates to the early 1970s. Oh........this little item has a very heavy frosted glass decanter and is labeled as cologne. The bottle holds twelve ounces, which is (cough) generous.

Hope some you like the pics,

    Martin

I can quit at any time that I decide to. Unfortunately, I have NO control over when (if ever) that decision might occur.

I'm not sure how old it is, but I haven't seen another Osage Rub in a glass bottle.

I have a Sportsman bottle that belonged to my father. I saved it all these years and I never knew why I had saved it. Now I know. (its like some kind of divine re-uniting........man.......or dude............or dudette)

I'll post a picture. It looks a bit different than these 2. More of a dark green with a phesant drawing on the bottle.

here is the picture of my Sportsman bottle. I have not looked at it in a while. But when I smelled it, it reminds me of my father.

from a yard sale at a church down the street... Halston 101 - a hot item in the early/mid '80s, apparently. Won awards for being cat's jammies in Men's scents (limited - ????) and for the ad campaign. Couldn't have been TOO hot though, for it was discontinued after not-too-long a run, apparently.

nice scent - piny-evergreeny... not for summer, maybe.

hmmm... you must try it, of course.

there is also a non-musk Black Garter for men - by the company that made Red Garter for women (of course) - Jartiere Rouge, Ltd. - not much information out there!

    Hiya,

Here's a few more after shaves that some of you may have used back in the day. All are full bottles.

First up would be the world famous High Seas Conditioning After Shave. This is from the early 70s, and Adam West did a commercial for the stuff.

Next is some what I believe to be an older vintage Brut. I base that guess on the box design, which I don't think has been made for a while. Truthfully I can't be sure about it's age, so who knows......heh.

Last treasure is a bottle of Hai Karate 'Oriental Spice' After Shave. The bottle I have is dated 1966-69, and this fragrance was introduced in 1968. Pretty nice scent to that, I have to say.

    Hope you enjoy the pics,

    Martin

I know, and I already have. Not bad, nothing knock-me-down spectacular either. A light, friendly musk but with a hint of spiciness to it. Definitely wearable.
