unable to get a close shave with

My merkur 38c. Nothing like my first merkur HD razor. I have wet shaving for five years and I am beginning to think its not user error. Any of you guys have this experience? I have used it with Derby,feather among other blades and the result is subpar.

I use mine with astra superior platinum blades and I get a daily BBS. I don't use any of my other razors anymore.

The 38c is super picky with blades and the astra-sp is the ONLY one that works in my 38b.

If you don't care for it, there's plenty of other fish in the Ocean to coin a phrase!!
Lifes too short to hack through with a piece of shave gear you don't get along with.
