Cleaning your watch

I use a toothbrush on the watch band and have always thought this was a clumsy job at best. Most of the watches I own are waterproof and can be held under water or dipped in jewelry cleaner but they never get completely clean. Any ideas?

An ultrasonic cleaner works great for a metal band but not for the watch itself. I wouldn't be using jewelry cleaner on any watch because the chemicals don't act like water and can affect the seals. Yea I know many do it but it's one of those things you do and get away with for a time and then you lose.

I use the softest and oldest used toothbrush I have. Make some suds with dishwashing detergent and gently scrub with some warm water. Rinse, let air dry, then buff with jeweler's cloth. I have 10 year old metal watches that still look brand new.
