I have the full set of those. They are hard to get a good grip on, and I wouldn't recommend them for trying to build slurry. The DMT W7E would work much better as it is thicker (thanks to the plastic backing). I have one of those, and it works pretty well for building slurry.

I've been using this for creating the mud. Works well but eventually gets clogged.

looks like you guys like bigger slurry stones than I do.

Seriously though, that little credit card sharpener can be held (I tried one in a Woodcraft store but didn't buy it)

+1 on the lapping film. I prefer to use natural stones (Japanese or coticule). But if I'm faced with a real problem blade, I'll fall back on lapping films. I've yet to find a razor they won't work on.

Telly, Shaptons and Coticules both work great with both stainless and high carbon razors. Sorry for contributing to the derailment

I've been working with a Coticule and it's been good - not great - so far. I'm still learning how to use it but it looks promising.
