Default Please help me feed my SBAD

I am thinking of doing something silly and buying another brush. Looking for advice.

    Here's what I have:

    Rooney 1/1 Super
    Rooney 3/1 Super
    Semogue 620
    Omega Pro 49
    Wee Scot

The first three are my regular rotation. They are my "Goldilocks" brushes (just right) the Pro 49 is too big and the Wee Scot is too small.

I find I am liking the 620 more and more. Not sure if it is me or the brush that's getting broken in!

The two Rooneys are a bit redundant. I was thinking of replacing one of them with another brush. Perhaps a boar.

Therefore this post -- any recommendations? I would go for something similar in size to the top three above. But nothing too similar to them, E.g. No Rooney 1/1 Best.

    Similar but different?

Simpsons Duke 1 or 2. Very similar to the Rooney 1/1, but different enough to have its own character. Very good brush, I would have kept mine but I like smaller brushes. For what it's worth, I had a 1/1 too so I feel safe comparing them.

I think the Omega 31064 would fit into your rotation nicely. This brush has nice soft tips when broken in, nice loft and just a all around good feel. IMO.

Take a look at the Kent BK4. This is a great all around brush.

Thanks for the pointers -- keep 'em coming.

One point -- I like firm brushes. Probably one reason the 620 is looking better all the time.

If you like firm brushes, go for the 1/1. It has a bit of a shorter loft than the 3/1.

If you like firm, I would avoid the Kent BK4. Beautiful brush, but IMO too floppy.

I'm curious how you find the 3/1 in super? I have a 3/1 in best and am not sure i'd want anything softer, I like a firm scrubby feel most of the time.

Like it, but not quite as much as my 1/1. I like the 1/1 handle and the 1/1 does seem just the very slightest bit firmer. Probably sample-to-sample variation.

Where's your Shavemac silvertip? Really high quality bristle at a reasonable price.

Try the Simpson 57 in Best. It is on par with the Rooney's sizewise but has a denser knot that isn't a pig with the lather. The tips are a touch scritchier, but that's quite useful with hard soaps.

You need a Simpson in your rotation. How about a Chubby 2?
