    Default Fairly new here...

    Hi All-

So, I have been wet shaving with a DE for about 2 months now. Haven't really posted much, but learned a lot and made some great purchases thanks to the info I found here.

I finally got around to reading that tutorial about making lather...I do have one question....

Do a majority of you really go through that long of a process every morning? I get up around 4:30am to 5am to get to the gym before work. I swirl my brush in the mug I have my soaps in and start brushing on my face (I know some of you do the face brushing). I think I spend enough time just shaving like that, I couldn't imagine a whole process of another bowl, boiling water, etc.

So, tell me...who is a speed demon and who really takes 10-20 minutes to shave? I probably take about 5-10.

Thanks! And I'm looking forward to participating more as I move along.

I don't bowl or scuttle lather, I'm a face latherer myself.
But I do take my time and dawdle whenever I can, I like to draw it out to about 30 minutes including a shower and brushing teeth.

Yeah, I guess if I brushed my teeth it would add extra time

Actually, I don't shower or anything since I am heading right to the gym. Just wash my face with warm/hot water, lather well, and I have no issues. Just was curious how many people really take that amount of time to shave.

I'm looking forward to retiring in another 30-35 years...maybe I'll add on extra time then

I don't have to shave for work so I shave at night when I can relax and enjoy it. It takes me 30-40 minutes.

For what it's worth, my morning routine is from 5:15 am to 5:45 am before work.
If it took me an hour to shave and do the routine, I'd get up at 4:45

Welcome to B&B! I also face lather and my total time for shaving is about 30 minutes. I jallow enough time for me to have a slow, relaxing shave in the morning as it gets the day off to a great start.

Thanks for the kind welcome from all of you. As I progress into this world of wet shaving I hope to be able to add my own experiences to the group. So far I think I made a good dent in my bank account with razors (5 vintage Gillette including one fatboy, and a Murker 34C), blades (about 60 shark, 25 iridium, 50 blue bird, 50 derby), soaps (tabac, ogallala), and currently working on aftershaves (so far ogallala aftershaves and my own mix of lemon witch hazel with tea tree oil).

I think I want to eventually get into straight razors....

    oh, the slippery slope!
