    Default Curio

Well, today I went to try and fetch a fat handle Tech that I had scouted out...but, it was not to be. Please see this thread for details of the foiled RAD: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=145611

They did have an Auto Strop, minus the strop though. It had a not too mangled box, and five unopened blades. I picked it up for US$4. From what little I know about them it seems that blades are very hard to modify for that model so I just got it...just...because.

Here's a few pics., wonder if I should clean it up a bit with scrubbing bubbles or just leave it alone. Tempted to open one of the blades and try a shave with it, but....

Anyone know where I can get a little strop like the one that came with it?

I walked into an antique store the other day and found myself in a conversation with the owner on how we used to use the items that he had for sale.

True story. In other words: You know you're getting old when you walk into an antique store and find yourself saying "I remember those."

You can find the stops on ebay occasionally. There are leather ones and some sort of rubberized cloth ones too. You could certainly have one made up fresh, it's just thin leather, nothing too special.

You can always pop the spine off a GEM SE blade and throw it in there for a test shave.

They are spiffy looking items if nothing else. At $4 you can feel good that it didn't end up in a landfill somewhere.

Yeah, for $4 I can always use it to prop up another razor I get for a photo.

I wonder what it's actually worth...for real, not the "how much somebody is willing to pay" thing.

It does look kinda "spiffy", and no one else that I know has one. Oh, there might be a reason for that.
