Just got the Vie-Long 13800 today, woo-hoo!

I'll post more after using it for a while. I'll say this, it's fairly dense and definitely springy.

I have been borderline on these for a while, if you like it, it just may push me to get one. Keep us posted. Also, is that pure horse or horse/badger?
I have just ordered the " 13061 "-- today.....
Where did you get order those from?

Interesting... I've never used a horse hair brush before. I'll be interested to see what it is like.
Good looking brush. Congrats.
I believe phil is carrying them now...been wondering about horse-hair...from what I've been told...it's great with creams but doesn't have the backbone for soaps...a lot of people like the soft, flexible hair though...

I got this one from Best Grooming Tools. This one is just horsehair, but they have blended brushes of horsehair/badger and horsehair/boar in addition to badger and boar bristle. The horse/boar brushes I've seen online, but haven't seen for sale anywhere in the states.
Vie-Long describes it as somewhere between boar and badger, and as simplistic as it sounds, that's it in a nutshell (so far.)
I'm really interested in what happens as I break it in. I have a couple Semogues that greatly improved after a certain # of uses, but I don't know much about horse--if it splits, if it gets softer, if it stays springy or gets floppy. I'll keep everybody posted.
If anyone has tried the VL boar brushes, I'd love to hear some feedback. BGT says they're the best boars they've seen, but I'm wondering how they'd stand up to a Semogue.
Always wondered how horse hair lathers. I've heard pretty good. Too bad for the horse though or at least what's left of him.... obviously not the kentucky derby winner. Losers get sent to the glue factory
