Default a brass/gold plated Super Slim Adjustable R-4???

I found a Super Slim Adjustable DE razor on theBay that is unlike any I've seen, and I'm curious about the value of this thing. It's date code is R-4 from what the seller tells me, which tells me it should be a black handled Adjustable like the one I already have. This one, however, is gold plated/brass instead of black handled.

Is this an actual Gillette, or a knock off? I couldn't find it in the shaveWiki on this forum.

BTW, I'm new to this stuff, so there's probably something I missed.

my gold Super-Adjustable is from 1969 (O4). I don´t know how long these are made. But I don´t know a gold Slim Super-Adjustable:

The gold super was only made for around 1 year, date codes of O (and a few P's?) are pretty much it. So R-4 does not sound right. Is the handle itself gold, or just the razor head?

Edit: I bet it is a P, tho P-4 seems late.

Well, the one I'm looking at doesn't look like that. It is all gold/brass, the handle included.
From the Wiki, it was called a Super Slim Adjustable, so I just assumed that's what all of them with that date code were called. I found it odd that it doesn't have a black handle, so i was wondering if it is a real Gillette or if there were some special editions or something.

I suppose the handle was supposed to be black but the resin came off... but then the wiki says that 1969 might have been the only year for gold plating, so that wouldn't work. Hence my confusion about what this thing is.

The seller said it has an R R (probably a typo) on it, but I know that can't be right. I asked him to clarify if it's an R 4, but he hasn't replied yet.

    You mean like this?
I am not sure. I have seen a few. Purchased one for $20 from a seller who did not know anything about razors. Saw 2 or maybe 3 more sold by one particular seller, one of which was originally purchased from the same guy I got mine from.
The seller with 2 or 3 of them said they were presented to gillette employees or some such thing. I think the verdict is still out on that. I know my seller didn't replate it himself, but it's possible it was done somewhere along the line.

The one in the eBay link has a longer handle, but that's basically it.

From looking at the link to the auction, I'm inclined to say it's just a standard black handled super adjustable. Due to the lighting, and the condition of the razor, however (ie soap scum buildup) it appears somewhat gold-ish colored. That's my take on the situation, anyhow.

That's the second time I've heard of an R R razor. I think the other was from a member here, so I am inclined to believe that such a thing happened.

That would be neat if it is the razor as pictured. We'll be rooting for you!

I reckon that looks like a very soap scummed black handle or one someones painted with a spray can . It looks too black to be the factory gold plated one I think.

Well, someone got themselves a good deal at $18.50. It wasn't me, though. I'm bidding on a Fat Boy, so I don't have tons of money to spread out on razors.

I would be interested in seeing what it is. I wonder if someone here got it.
